Welsh Rarebit With Tomato's Welsh rarebit is basically posh cheese on toast or grilled cheese as some may say. The name welsh rarebit or sometimes welsh rabbit, was first used for this dish as far back as the 18th century in Great Britain. Welsh rarebit consists of a savoury sauce made from cheese that is gently melted, and other ingredients that are added according to individual taste and family tradition.
